Corner Bar – November 6, 2009

Valentiger traveled to Kalamazoo on a warm November Friday evening to take part in the ongoing Full Circle Agency Showcase at the Corner Bar.  The boys followed The Centralia Mine Fire to play a short and sweet set of prime material.  Shirey sang the best he could through some of the worst sound in years.  “Bosses In Their Offices” had to be stopped midway due to an inexplicable screeching from all P.A. speakers.  But Kehoe followed his lead and the trio fought their way through the mess with listeners noting that things sounded okay.  The Afternoon Round took the third slot of the night, hopping through sparkling and tight pop songs.  And then Poor Boys Relief closed out the night with a set including both Seger and CCR.  All the bands gelled in some strange way and it was a great turnout considering none of these bands were actually from Kalamazoo.  Some old friends were out and the band even challenged Full Circle Agency to a straight-up baseball game.  Valentiger ended up winning by default.  The van ride home brought a 90s bands song-naming challenge and really only proved that Shirey knew too much about Live.
