Hideout Brewery – November 21, 2009

Valentiger returned to The Hideout Brewery, playing through the night for friends and family.  Rider kept tradition alive with a “mistake count” on the chalk board behind him and Kehoe seemed to generally want to march while playing.  The first set was quite mellow, with the boys really feeling every note and rhythm.  However, the second set was much rowdier and laced with more covers.  Shirey broke his harmonica holder (later taped up by Rider), which led him to a pretty intense guitar solo on Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”  His cuts on “Wish You Were Here” and “You Aint Goin’ Nowhere” were also notable, pulling Rider and Kehoe into a jam-like state.  And just as one thought the band had ended for the night, the boys yanked out one last sing-a-long version of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” really, for no apparent reason.  But what IS for sure, is that it led the crowd into one fierce dance party that even had the bar tender leaving her shift to come upstairs and boogie.  I vaguely remember a Rider-induced circle formed around a stool into which people were shoved for interpretive dance.  Yep, that’s a mother.
