Song: “Leaving Town”
Location: Summer Camp at the Center – Dearborn, MI
Record Date: July 24, 2009
Video Release Date: September 14, 2009

For their 9th and latest independent tour, Valentiger made use of normally wasted daylight. They set to produce live cuts from “Power Lines To Electric Times” via remote locations in a song-per-city fashion. Armed with a USB-powered interface, a 2002 PowerBook G4, condenser microphones and a video camera, the band was able to record themselves acoustically, anywhere, in any city. The idea arose from discussion during an interview with The Grand Rapids Press in their hometown, Michigan. They put forth the premise that if a song is well written, it should be able to hold it’s own in any situation, with almost any instrument. With their newest release, “Power Lines To Electric Times,” containing 11 tracks and it’s supporting tour having the same number of dates, they set to test the theory. This video series captures a journey of truly unique performances from the Valentiger vagrants as they travel Waffle House to laundromat, playing Autoharp to Harmonium.

About this video: Kehoe previously worked at this day camp years ago, and his boss recently requested he come back to perform for “Music Week.” The band conveniently worked this opportunity into their travels and consciously planned “Leaving Town” to land on this date. Free CD’s were given to the top five dancers of Kehoe’s liking, the band signed “Music Week” plastic flutes and then were coerced to sing a special, live version of “Rule Song,” written by Kehoe for the camp.
